BEIRUT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport is located 9 km from the city center in the south. a suburb of Beirut, Lebanon, and is the only operating commercial airport in the country. It is the hub for Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines (better known as MEA), as well as the Lebanese cargo carrier TMA cargo and Wings of Lebanon before their breakup.
It is the main port of entry to the country along with the port of Beirut. The airport is operated and operated by the General Civil Aviation Administration (DGCA), which operates under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. The DGCA is also responsible for air traffic control (ATC) at the airport, as well as overseeing Lebanese airspace. DGCA's responsibilities include maintenance and general repairs, ranging from cleaning the terminal to removing rubber from runways.
Beirut Airport consists of one passenger terminal.

According to statistics, the annual passenger traffic of Beirut International Airport is about 8 million people. And the airport administration is responsible for each of the passengers. The airport security system is a complex set of measures that pursue one goal - the protection of human health and life. Several protective barriers can be integrated into one system to achieve a specific safety goal. These barriers can also be designed to work with additional safety features or to protect people.

We are delighted that Beirut International Airport has decided to entrust the security of the airport perimeter to TiSO road blockers and bollards.

We offer anti-ram road devices for special-purpose objects, which actually include the airport building and perimeter. Thus, the entrances to the location is protected by TiSO RB313 automatic road blocker and TiSO RB348 high security automatic bollards.

Road blockers and bollards that we manufacture can operate as separate units, or as part of a security and protection system on location. The current project at Beirut Airport confirms that our road blockers and bollards can operate as part of a complex transport system.

TiSO high security road blockers and TiSO bollards are part of the complex logistics area of Beirut Airport. According to the project we had to set up such a system of inspection and access control of cars, which excludes the influence of third parties on the decision.

But what role do our blockers and bollards play with this system? The entire control system in the logistics area of the airport has a screening character. That is, if one of the checkpoints wasn’t passed, the car is not allowed to enter the next stage and is forced to leave the airport zone.

In case of unsuccessful scanning and inspection of the car, it goes to the lane secured by bollards. The signal from the first point of inspection goes to the bollard controller and the bollards are lowered automatically, freeing the passage for the truck. Meanwhile, road blockers are in the raised position, so the track won’t enter forbidden zone. Further, the vehicle either tries to pass the first security checkpoint again or leaves the airport area.

In case of successful passage of the first checkpoint, the car goes to the entrance with a road blocker. The system lowers the blocker (bollards are in the raised position at this time) and the car can enter the airport territory.

Such system connects bollards, road blockers and other access control systems allows you to reduce the time for passing the control posts, as well as to avoid mechanical errors.

Also TiSO traffic lights are installed nearby each of the checkpoints, They work in conjunction with road blockers and bollards to signal the access status. If the bollard / road blockers are raised, the red light is on; and if the bollard / road blockers are down, green light is on.

Also, control over road blockers and bollards can be exercised by using a wireless remote control.

About certificates for road blockers and bollards

One of the important criteria when choosing equipment was the availability of appropriate certificates for road blockers and bollards. The TiSO equipment met this criterion as well, since it was successfully certified in accordance with the international standard ASTM F2656. The equipment was assigned protection class M30. The crash test confirmed that the barriers will stop the 6,8 tons at a speed of about 50 km / h.
